"RuPaul"....the female looking male cat!
It was a big day at SAF on Monday, April 19th! One of our staff members, Deanna Theis, stopped to trap a cat to bring in for TNR that morning before work. She had previously trapped 2 females at the location on Friday. She spotted a torti in a vacant yard, and baited the trap. Within 10 minutes, she had the cat in a trap and was on her way to the clinic. Considering she had a tortoiseshell, she KNEW she had a female...Right?
Imagine our surprise when we discovered this little SHE cat, was a HE cat!!! Full torti markings with testicles. Now, many people don't know why this would be a big deal, but this boy is very, very, rare. You see, calicos and tortoiseshell cats are usually ALWAYS females. 1 of every 3,000 calicos are male. The probability of a torti being a male is even more rare. Click here MALE TORTOISESHELL CAT and you'll see what we mean...
He's sedated in this pic, since he's feral... Up close proof, our girl is a boy!!!
